What Are The Steps, Including Changing BMX Pedals?

BMX pedals are an essential component of a BMX, assisting riders in controlling their bikes, influencing their bike's performance and the rider's safety, and you wouldn't get very far without them. When it comes to pedal designs, BMX bike riders are spoiled for choice.

However, you must select the appropriate pedal kinds for your riding style. For BMX bikes, there are different sorts of pedals available: clipless pedals & platform pedals. In this blog, we will discover how to replace the BMX pedals on your own.

How Can I Replace My BMX Pedals?

1. A 15 mm flat, open wrench is required. Most hardware stores have these but look for the smallest one you can find that will fit through the tiny space and allow you to easily reach the spindle.

2. To remove and install pedals safely and easily, flip your BMX bike upside down and rest it on the saddle and handlebars.

3. Each pedal has a unique removal and re-install procedure. Turn the wrench counter-clockwise to loosen the right-hand side pedal. Because the thread on the left-hand pedal is reversed, you must spin the wrench clockwise.

4. Start using the pedal on the right side. The label on the spindle or the pedal's end cap marked with an "R" will inform you which is the right-hand side's pedal?

5. Apply a light coating of lubricant to the pedal threads before mounting the pedals to minimize unnecessary friction and corrosion from metal-to-metal contact.

6. Thread the right pedal clockwise to tighten it. Understand that the left pedals are screwed backward; always adjust your left pedal counterclockwise.

7. Before you ride, turn the bike back onto its wheels and inspect your pedals & BMX Chains to verify they're correctly adjusted.

By following the above-discussed parameters, you can change/replace the BMX pedals safely.
